GO AHEAD - LETS GO TOGETHER

Image
This video was shown on Viki.com my choice for watching Asian Dramas. What attracted me to watch this drama was its high rating. I was not disappointed. The story is about three families with three children who were drawn together because of life issues. What was amazing to me was the casting. The families actually looked like they were related unlike American dramas who cast stars whether or not they look like other family members. It shares real life issues that children face as kids and that follow them through young adult hood. It also shares keys to getting breakthroughs in life restoring faith and happiness while going through difficulties. The main character is a bright, self-willed but caring child named JianJian. Because I have a blog 7Jians as a fan clud for the new Enhypen Big Hit Group, Jake, Jay, Jungwon, Ice (Sunghoon), Ace, (Heesung), Ni-ki and Sunoo I know what Jian means strong and healthy and that is what little Jian is. She is strong on behalf of her tw...

Crash Landing on You on Netflix

Image
I started watching this drama twice and left it for some of the other dramas I reviewed in this blog.  But the third time, I finally watched it from the beginning. Hyun Bin's part was so manly and strong.  and  Son Ye-Jin played beautifully the part of a successful business woman who had to come down to earth literally in a nation that was simple, kind and very humble.   It portrayed North Koreans as people who have the same emotions as people all over the world.  They love to laugh, love, sing, dance and of course eat.   What was nice in this drama that you saw at least four cameos of really big Korean stars playing a taxi driver, a secret agent, a movie star and a taxi driver.  Other notables were Captain Ri's father, actor Jeon Kuk-Hwan who is seen in many KDramas. Korean Dramas generally a well thought out stories with many twists and turns that somehow connect the characters together with destiny.  And, most of the time, although th...

Revolutionary Love

Image
This drama, Revolutionary Love, is a South Korean Drama.  The title is a little misleading.  It is not about a revolution in the political sense of the word but it is about the transformation of a young useless rich chaebol into a solid caring and courageous individual who takes on not only injustice, but his father and brother as well.  It is about three young people who's lives happen to intertwine in interesting look at parents, children and the conglomerate world of big business.  One thing that is very good about this drama is that it does have a redeeming ending as the crooked places are made straight and the good people remain good through the drama. It's fund to watch the character of Byun Hyuk and Kwon, Jae Hoon evolve.  The useless son, Byun Hyuk played by Choi Si-Won, the carefree part-time employee Baek Jun played by Kang So-ra and her long time friend and subservient character of Kwon, Jae Hoon played by Gong Myung.  Some interested oth...

I - LAND, GREAT TV REALITY SHOW ON VIKI.COM

Image
I - LAND Viki.com's Successful New Reality Show I saw this post on Rakuten's VIKI.com channel and thought it was another sciene fiction drama or something to do with Noah's Ark.   I-Land is one of the best new ventures into reality television following the lives for 23 young lads who are competing to become the next big KPOP group.  This I-Land is a location especially built for this TV Reality Drama and has two sections.   Each week contestants have six days to practice a very difficult song and song routine selected by the judges.  Sometimes they compete individually, but most of the time they compete as a team.  The youngest contestant is 14 years old and the oldest 22 years old. The neat thing the judges are well known to the KPOP community they are Rain ( Jung Ji-hoon  ( Korean :  정지훈 , born June 25, 1982), better known by his  stage name   Rain  (Korean 비 IPA ['piː]), is a South Korean singer-songwr...

Chocolate, South Korean Drama on Netflix.

Image
If you want a relaxing well acted drama series, Chocolate may be just what you were looking for.  As far as casting in concerned the producers were right on.  The five leads were incredible and believable.  Ha Ji-Won as Moon Cha-Young, the little girl who was hungry and became an excellent cheft; Yoon Kye-Sang,  as Lee Kang, the neural surgeon; his half brother Lee Jun, also a neural surgeon, played by Jang Seung-Jo, who we have seen in many recent dramas; and the rest of the cast that you can find on Wikipedia. Although the story surrounds two children who at a one time meeting became instant friends, the actual story expands to be more than just a typical Korean drama.  The primary focus is a hospital conglomerate, but most of the story surrounds a hospice where patients are sent to live our their last days. It is done tastefully and if South Korea cares for their terminally ill patients as in this movie, I have to say I am very impressed. ...

Pearl Cinema Review - President Korean Drama 2010

Image
Just finished watching "President," a Korean drama released in 2010. It is the story of a candidate Jang Il-Joon, played excellently by Choi - Soo-Jong.  It is a behind the scenes look at what happens when you decide to run for the highest office in the land.  Perhaps this movie had every thinkable sequence in it, from the murder, bribery, betrayal, lying, spying, attempted murder, broken promises, misunderstanding and the fast paced, stressful atmosphere of a campaign committee.      But it was really fascinating.  There is enough twists and turns to keep you interested.  During the drama there are various references to American politics.  At first I thought they were talking about our fake news media and President Trump.  But this movie was produced in 2010 way before our news became fake.      There are many great statements and lessons to be learned in the ugly world of politics. And those politicia...

Pearl Cinema Review - Designated Survivor - 60 Days

Image
I love dramas that make sense and that mirrors real life drama in a fictional story. Designated Survivor is one of these Korean-made dramas that will keep you glued to your computer or Smart TV, episode after episode. The opening chapter immediately takes you to the terrorist bombing of National Assembly Building in Seoul.  For me it looked very realistic having been there twice and once inside the assembly hall. From Wikipedia, "Park Mu-jin (Ji Jin-hee) is the Minister of Environment who has little ambition as a politician. One day, an explosion takes place during an official gathering at the National Assembly building, killing many of the high-ranking officials present including the President. As Park Mu-jin happens to be the highest ranking government officer left alive, he becomes the reluctant acting president for sixty days. As he chases after the people responsible for the explosion, he gets to grow as a national leader.[6]" I know there is an American Vers...
